The most beautiful places in Ski amadé
Start of the Zauchensee World Cup course (Salzburger Sportwelt)
For me, as a big Ski World Cup fan, the spectacular start of the World Cup course in Zauchensee has to be on the list of the most beautiful places in Ski amadé. The start of the women's World Cup downhill run is on the world-famous Gamskogel at 2,176 meters above sea level, which can only be reached with the "Weltcup-Express" inclined lift - an incredibly beautiful vantage point. The World Cup downhill run is about 3km and a difference in altitude of almost 800 meters between the starting point and the valley. The route was only extended by the steep starting slope on the Gamskogel during the course of the World Cup finals in 2002, making it the highest excursion point in the Salzburger Sportwelt that can be reached by lift.
Suspension bridge with stairway into nothingness (Schladming-Dachstein)
On the spectacular suspension bridge on the Dachstein Glacier you can feel infinite freedom, even weightlessness. The bridge is 100 meters long and offers a breathtaking view. For those of us with a head for heights, it goes straight on - 14 narrow steps down - to the glass platform of the "Stairway into nothingness". Whoever climbs these stairs stands directly in the rock face 400 meters above the base of the wall. The "Stairway into nothingness" rewards the brave with an unbelievable all-round view of the surrounding mountains. A view from the Dachstein Glacier that cannot easily be compared to any other.
“Steirerherz” (Schladming-Dachstein)
The “Steirerherz” (heart of Styria) at the summit of Reiteralm - one of my absolute favorite places in Ski amadé. Secretly, Reiteralm is my absolute favorite mountain in Ski amadé anyway - but psssst, don't tell anyone, otherwise there will soon be a lot more going on there. 😉 The "Steirerherz" is located at the most beautiful and panoramic point on the slopes of Reiteralm - a unique photo spot where the Dachstein massif seems close enough to touch.
“Schlossalmblick” – viewing platform (Gastein)
On the Schlossalm in Bad Hofgastein you can discover a new panorama platform. From there you can enjoy a unique view over the entire Schlossalm area. Since the viewing platform has a transparent grating at the bottom, you have the feeling of weightlessness and freedom. A bench on the platform offers enough space to enjoy the view, have a snack and recharge your batteries.
“Königsplatz” with 360° panorama (Hochkönig)
You can get the best souvenir photo on the Hochkönig on “Königsplatz” (King’s place) - the square with a 360° panoramic view from the Hochkönig to the Hohe Tauern offers a distinctive wooden throne where you can make yourself comfortable.
“Sonnenplatzl” and “Naturplatzl” (Grossarltal)
The Grossarltal is all about conscious experience - an interplay of mountains and nature, which can best be enjoyed in the specially created resting places. The “Sonnenplatzl” (sunny place) and the “Naturplatzl” (nature place) in particular invite you to relax and unwind.
