Ramsau am Dachstein – Family ski area

The perfect place for big and small skiers

The practice lifts with their wide ski meadows, nestled on the Ramsau plateau, are at the ideal altitude of 1,100 to 1,300 metres. They are easily manageable and easily accessible. A spacious, natural experience area, framed by the magnificent snow-covered mountain world awaits visitors. The Ramsau ski region scores with an infrastructure that leaves nothing to be desired. And with moderate prices specially tailored to families, it offers affordable skiing and winter activities for everyone.

Rittisberg scores with new winter offer

The new combined lift on the Rittisberg transports all winter sports enthusiasts to the summit. Also new on the Rittisberg are the high-altitude trail for classic and skating cross-country skiing as well as the winter hiking trail to the summit cross and the rustic adventure huts.

The Rittisberg in Ramsau am Dachstein offers a wide range of ski slopes in various degrees of difficulty. Families can enjoy wide downhill runs, a fairytale ski trail and the 3.5-kilometre-long night toboggan run. Experienced skiers can also venture into steeper terrain and professionals even have their own training ski slope installed. Just in time for the 50th anniversary, a major investment is now being made at the Rittisberg: A combined chairlift and gondola lift. A total of eight million euros will be invested in the new transport system, which will go into operation at the start of the season in December 2022. The combination of chairs and gondolas offers the necessary flexibility in the ascent, so that cross-country skiing will also be possible on the Rittisberg for the first time.

From magic carpet to gondola lift

Learn to ski on the magic carpet and the T-bar lift. T-bar lifts make it easier for children to get started with "skiing", as they find it much easier on the T-bar lift. On the T-bar lift they can also ski on their own without adult supervision. Children and beginners are optimally prepared for the gondola lift on the Rittisberg. The Ramsau Ski School, the largest children's ski school in the region, is located directly on the Rittisberg.

Perfect for the first turns in the snow: Kaliland at the foot of Rittisberg

The Kaliland is a huge playground for the little snow-loving skiers. Here, they learn to ski by playing. The Kalilift, a beginner’s lift, drags the children up the hill with the help of the ever-friendly staff. After a couple of runs, most of the little racers get the hang of it, figuring out quickly how to catch the “banana” bar to be dragged up the hill.

Around the beginner’s slope, there are wonderful distractions: a giant ski-through Kali, a large slide, a warm stone oven, mushroom huts, tipis, and igloos. One huge adventure land. Sometimes, even Kali skis there – just to show what he can do and help the little ones to ski, stop, and turn.

The bambini classes take place Monday to Friday mornings. And on Sundays, from 10.30 am to 12 pm, it’s Hello Day at the bambini land, which invites children and parents to come and try.

And of course, adults trying two planks for the first time have come to the right place, too. The Kaliland slope is very gentle, which makes it easy to learn those first turns – and how to stop – with one of Ski School Ramsau’s qualified ski instructors.

Skiing fun for the whole family

From the coming winter, the network of cross-country ski trails in Ramsau am Dachstein will also be extended with the expansion on the Rittisberg. The so-called "Höhenloipe" (high-altitude trail) can be reached with the combined lift and stretches in a circular route over a length of 5.5 kilometres from the mountain station to the summit cross. An accompanying track for winter and snowshoe hikers winds through snow-covered forests, which repeatedly reveal the breathtaking view of the Dachstein and the Enns Valley. The adventure huts can also be reached via the new cross-country ski trail and the winter hiking trail. The Sonnenalm, Halseralm and Rösteralm await guests with regional delicacies and warming oven fires.
