7 excuses from non-skiers and how you can change their minds

It would be so nice to be able to go on a relaxed skiing holiday with the whole group of friends or the whole family. But then there's that one person in every group who just doesn't want to get on their skis. Who doesn't know them? That one person who finds every conceivable excuse not to go skiing. Yet you would love to have this person with you on your skiing holiday. In today's blog post, I'll list the most common excuses and how you, as an enthusiastic skier, can refute them and perhaps change their mind after all.

1. I don't like snow

When the snow lies on the roads and causes traffic chaos or lies as dirty slush on the pavements in the cities, then it's not so much fun, that's understandable. But a fantastic winter panorama in Ski amadé with glistening snow as far as the eye can see, sunshine and a breathtaking mountain panorama, for example from the Dachstein - who can say no to that? What's more, many people work day and night to ensure that the roads are safe to drive on and that everyone gets to their destination without any problems.

2. I'd rather be in the sun

In principle, this argument is also understandable - there are winter and summer people. I also like being by the sea and on a sandy beach in summer, but only in summer. After all, we live in a country with beautiful mountains and should make the most of the winter days with fantastic snow - the rest of the year there's nothing wrong with a holiday by the sea. 😉 And as we all know, there's also sun in winter - especially during the sunny ski season in March, which can be enjoyed very comfortably and with many hours of sunshine in Maria Alm, Flachauwinkl, Grossarl, Bad Gastein or on the Fageralm, for example.

3. I'm not sporty

You don't necessarily have to be an over-athlete to come on a skiing holiday. Firstly, everyone starts small and your friends will certainly be happy to wait for you, even if you are a little slower at the beginning. You can also ski down the mountain at a leisurely pace and don't have to race against the others, so it's less strenuous. Apart from that, there's nothing wrong with stopping off at one of the cosy huts in Ski amadé.

4 And what if I hurt myself?

As described earlier, you don't have to ski down the whole piste in one go and perhaps take a plaster cast with you as a souvenir from your skiing holiday. In this case, taking it easy is definitely fine, as it also minimises the risk of injury. And of course it's important to be careful on the piste and show consideration for others. However, if the fear is still too great, Ski amadé has a great offer to help you feel safe on the slopes again and regain the necessary self-confidence in skiing: Back2Ski.

5. I'm such a freeze baby

What did our parents always say? ‘There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes.’ My tip: wear lots of layers, dress warmly enough and buy high-quality equipment, then you won't get cold even on really cold days. And if a whole new set of equipment is too expensive for you, you can easily hire the right ski clothing from all Intersport RENT branches in Ski amadé

6 I'm too old to learn how to ski

I really can't accept this excuse. You're never too old to learn something new. And who knows? Maybe skiing is an undiscovered hobby and you'll really enjoy it. Just give it a try, it could turn out well. Ski amadé has the right offer for this too - with Learn2Ski you can learn to ski in just 3 days with a guaranteed success.

7. It's too expensive for me

Of course, skiing has become more expensive, just as everything has become more expensive, but after all, lifts have to be operated and maintained and staff have to be paid, etc. But I promise you one thing: it's worth every euro. But I can promise you one thing: it's worth every euro. However, if you don't want to spend all your savings on a skiing holiday, you can take advantage of special weeks such as the Ski amadé Special Weeks or ski rental. That way you're sure to get out cheaper than if you have to pay for the full hotel + new equipment 😉.

I hope I was able to give you good arguments FOR a skiing holiday with friends or relatives and persuade one or two of you to give skiing a try. Have fun with it! 😊
