Hochwurzen

Skiing fun in the 4-mountains ski area in the Schladming-Dachstein Region

The Hochwurzen is situated in the middle of the Schladming 4-mountains ski area and offers fantastic skiing including a stunning panorama with a view of the Dachstein. Together with Hauser Kaibling, Planai and Reiteralm, Hochwurzen forms the Schladminger 4-mountains ski area. Exceptional skiing awaits you on 123 kilometres of slopes on the four mountains. The Schladming 4-mountains ski area is part of the largest ski association, Ski amadé.

The Hochwurzen has got something for everyone

Fantastic skiing fun including a wonderful view of the Dachstein. Here you will discover more than 22 kilometres of slopes and 8 modern cable cars and lifts. The Hochwurzen wins you over with its wide, sporty and family-friendly slopes. If you have not had enough winter fun, you can let off steam whilst night skiing on the perfectly groomed floodlit slope or on the seven-kilometre-long toboggan run.

Tobogganing fun

Hochwurzen is home to the longest toboggan run in Styria. From the starting portal at 1,852 metres above sea level, young and old alike can enjoy the lively seven-kilometre-long route down the mountain with a bit of speed. The winding route means that there is plenty of fun to be had and also ensures plenty of variety. You can either bring your own toboggans or hire them directly on site. The comfortable Hochwurzen summit lift takes the tobogganers up to the top station, where the tobogganing fun for young and old can then start. The track is prepared daily and tickets are available at the Gipfelbahn Hochwurzen lift ticket office.

Active at night on the Hochwurzen

For those who haven't had enough time on the slopes during the day, then night skiing offers a very special ambience. On the wide and freshly groomed 3-kilometre-long slope, nothing beats the feeling of skiing in the glow of the floodlights. Tobogganing fun also continues in the evening and is a great experience for the whole family. The 7-kilometre-long toboggan run takes you back from the top station to the bottom station of the Gipfelbahn Hochwurzen lift with many bends and turns.

Ski touring

The Hochwurzen is also particularly popular with ski tourers. Whether for beginners or keen and experienced ski tourers – the Hochwurzen is the ideal starting point for a leisurely ski tour. The ascent track starts at the Hochwurzen bottom station at the starting portal and leads up to the top station at 1,852 metres. The track is groomed daily and a fee must be paid for the existing infrastructure, such as the parking, guiding system, etc.

Funslope

The Funslope on the Hochwurzen (between the Hochwurzen Gipfelbahn lift and the Obertalbahn bottom station) provides fun off the slopes.

Whether steep curves, waves or the snow tunnel – over a length of 575 metres, fun obstacles provide plenty of adventure.

A special highlight is the Speed boost: a six-metre-long box that makes noises when you cross over it. The Funslope mascot Slopy is already looking forward to seeing you!

Hopsi slope

The Hopsi slope is located in the area of the Obertalbahn lift top station and is just right for speedy little skiers and beginners.

Along the slope you will see signs with the mascot "Hopsi" on them to show you the right way.

Several wave runs on the edge of the slope ensure a lot of fun and at the end you can also branch off onto the funslope.
