In winter, the mountains attract skiers and snowboarders. The Gastein ski region in the heart of Austria comprises 4 ski areas with a total of 220 kilometres of pistes. But cross-country skiers also love the Gastein Valley and enjoy the healthy Nordic endurance sport on the valley trail or the snow-sure high-altitude trail. Those who want to get to know the cold season from its gentler side will find the opportunity to do so on winter hikes. Tobogganing and romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides are also possible in the white landscape. Wherever you go: You will always be accompanied by the majestic natural scenery of the Gastein mountains around the Hotel Römerhof in Dorfgastein.

Mit gültigem Skipass und entsprechender Skiausrüstung fahren Wintersportler mit dem Skibus kostenlos im Gasteinertal von ihren Unterkünften direkt bis zu den Talstationen der Skigebiete. Somit erreichen Sie nicht nur ganz einfach die Skigebiete Schlossalm-Angertal-Stubnerkogel, Graukogel und Dorfgastein-Großarl, sondern auch das abwechslungsreiche Freeride-Gebiet Sportgastein, sodass Sie schnellstmöglich mit den Liften und Bergbahnen zum Gipfel gelangen und die abwechslungsreichen Ski-Abfahrten genießen können. Whether winter hiking or tobogganing – hearty moments are guaranteed on the Galsterberg. The approx. 1.5 km long winter hiking trail starts at the mountain station and leads to one of the two heart points. The second heart point can be found along the 5 km long natural toboggan run. A winter magic on two runners invites you to an adventurous toboggan run both during the day and at night.

From the terrace, the view of the Steinerne Meer with the Hochkönig is a feast for the eyes. At only 950 m above sea level, we offer hikers and cyclists a snack, warm home cooking and home-made pastries in summer. In the winter, we offer hearty and regional mountain food for lunch and dinner. Parking available, directly at the hut.
