Ski and Wine Enjoyment on the Hochkönig

The highest farmers' market in the Alps, gondola dinners, Skihüttenroas and wine tastings at the ski huts take place every year to coincide with the Ski and Wine Enjoyment Week. For many years, this has been the tastiest highlight of the winter season in Ski amadé. I was there for you in 2024 and experienced a week of pure skiing pleasure and culinary delights in the Hochkönig region.

The Hochkönig region is known for its culinary diversity and the many ski huts.
From modern ski huts to rustic huts, you can find everything there.
Every year in March, the Ski and Wine Enjoyment Week takes place throughout Ski amadé. In the Hochkönig region, there are several event highlights during this week.

Gondel.Alm.Genuss

An unforgettable culinary experience awaited locals and guests high above Maria Alm. With a glass of sparkling wine and delicious appetisers, they got in the mood for a 5-course gourmet menu created by TOM Almhütte. Each course was served in the gondolas of the Natrun cable car, accompanied by exquisite wines from the renowned Strommer winery in Burgenland. The breathtaking view at the mountain station completed the gastronomic adventure.
The finale at the TOM Almhütte offered a flying dessert and spectacular show acts. An unforgettable evening full of enjoyment and incomparable memories in the Hochkönig region. For me, the Gondel.Alm.Genuss is an annual highlight that you should definitely experience.
The gondola dinner will take place next year on 21 March 2025.

Folk music Skihüttenroas

The Skihüttenroas is known far beyond the borders of the Hochkönig region. (Folk) music is a large and important part of our society and contributes a great deal to customs and culture. Various folk and brass music groups play in and around the participating huts. The local Schnalzer provide exciting moments for all guests. Another speciality are the nostalgic skiers who make the piste unsafe with their two ‘wooden boards’.
So if you are a fan of traditional music, you should definitely strap on your skis next year and not miss this musical day. Fun, good music and enjoyment are guaranteed in Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach.

Highest farmers' market in the Alps

The Highest Farmers' Market in the Alps was organised for the first time in 2015. Since then, it has been a fixed and important part of the Ski and Wine Enjoyment Week. Home-made delicacies from regional producers are offered and sold at the Highest Farmers' Market in the Alps - right next to the ski piste. Here on the Hochkönig, a total of six ski huts sell products. Most of them sell products from their own production. A wide range of products are on offer, including cheese, bacon, homemade liqueurs and schnapps, aromatic herbal blends, handmade soaps and artistic wooden figures.
Are you planning to take part in the ski and wine tasting week again next year? There's something for everyone, whether you're a wine lover, folk music fan or simply a connoisseur.
