Anna's favourite family ski areas

Planning a family ski holiday requires careful consideration to ensure that both the youngest and the more experienced skiers get their money's worth. Choosing the right ski resort is crucial. Family ski resorts in Ski amadé often offer special facilities for children, such as children's parks, easy pistes, experienced child carers and specially trained and supportive lift staff. These facilities allow parents to focus on their own adventures while children learn to ski in a fun and safe environment.

Here are some of our absolute favourite slopes, where we spend many of our days off together.

Fischbacher adventure meadow

This is our first choice, especially when the four of us want to ski together. The big one can let off steam on the platter lift. The staff are always friendly and particularly helpful. Right next door is the "Alm-Express", the magic carpet, which our little ones love to use. Once our kids have spent enough time on the two boards, they take a long break. A tasty snack is a must. You can also enjoy them in cool weather, as the great facilities, which are free of charge for everyone, also include a warm lift lounge with coffee and drinks machines and well-maintained toilet facilities.

Once they've had their fill, it's off to the winter playground. There's plenty of space to have fun with sledges, bobsleighs or toboggans - many pieces of equipment are even provided by the Grossarl mountain lifts. The staff are extremely friendly and supportive and the adventure meadow is located at the foot of the ski area, making it easily accessible for everyone.

Hahnbaum

A great, small family ski area with a long tradition, where we can often be found. Located in the centre of St. Johann im Pongau, you can enjoy perfectly groomed pistes with the whole family. Whether old or young, everyone gets their money's worth here. On the one hand, there is the T-bar lift with a long descent, where our big boy loves to take his turns. Next door is the platter lift, which can be used free of charge. Beginners like our mini will find perfect conditions there. When she is no longer so motivated on skis, we like to go to the separate play area. There is a carousel, some separate areas where you can whizz down the hill on a bobsleigh or slide, as well as seating where you can have a snack or simply take a break. We also recommend a stop at Lisi and Leo Aichhorn's "Hetzenbichl" restaurant for sweet farmhouse doughnuts.

Monte Popolo

"Small and beautiful", these words describe the ideal ski resort for our family in Eben im Pongau. Translated, Monte Popolo means the mountain for everyone and it really is. It is suitable for all age groups. Once you have reached the top with the chairlift, the fun really begins. Right next to the top station of the first 2-seater chairlift there is a mountain hut where I have already spent a sunny afternoon or two with our little one, while the big one has made the slopes unsafe with his dad. Since she's been skiing a bit herself, we head from there to the Topolino 2 practice lift. Its easy piste for beginners is designed with fun figures and the play opportunities in the snow are great fun even for the little ones. A small fun park runs parallel to this on the other side of the platter lift, where kids can try their hand at freestyle skiing for the first time. If you then take the lift to the highest point, you will find the fun children's adventure piste through the forest, where you will encounter various native forest and wild animals that provide lots of exciting and educational information about their way of life.

It's not just the time on skis, but all the shared experiences on and off the piste that make skiing as a family so special. It strengthens family bonds and creates memories that will last a lifetime. Our favourite family slopes offer the perfect place to create these long-lasting memories.
