In addition to the famous "East" ski run of the Gamskogel, there are numerous powder runs on unspoilt slopes. These are best found together with local guides who know exactly where the perfect powder is hidden. Freeriders can get excited about top-class runs, such as the "Gamskogel East," or the ski route towards Flachauwinkl. The experience becomes perfect when the local guides show you the best and above all safest routes.
A tip about this: Check points are available at the two valley stations “Weltcuparena Zauchensee” and “Highport Flachauwinkl,” where you test out your avalanche transceiver to make sure that it is working properly.
Zauchensee has got everything that the sportive skier could wish for. This is mainly down to the above average snow-assured location between 1,000 and 2,100 metres.
Zauchensee/Flachauwinkl offers challenging and varied runs, wide carving slopes, excellent freeride routes including the legendary "East" on the Gamskogel, several tree runs and a racing history with downhill world champion Michael Walchhofer, who lives here.
As the highest ski area in the Salzburg Sports World and one of the most snow-assured areas in the Alps, Zauchensee is also an insider tip among freeriders and off-piste fans.
The freeride slopes can be reached directly from the mountain stations and the famous “East” run in Gamskogel has got cult status on the scene. For a unique and safe freeride adventure, it is recommended to let the local ski guides show you the most beautiful slopes.
